Why 2012 is the year of Wiggins
Wednesday, July 18, 2012
15 stages down, 5 to go. As we approach the final stages of this year's Tour de France with a gruelling stage in the Pyrenees and another mountain stage on Thursday, Bradley Wiggins has a firm hold over the yellow jersey.
Currently 2 minutes and 5 seconds ahead of team-mate and fellow Brit Chris Froome, with Vincenzo Nibali in third place, Wiggins has held the yellow jersey since the seventh stage (eclipsing Chris Boardman's record) and a great collaborative effort from Team Sky has seen “Le Gentleman”, as he been nicknamed by the French press, sit comfortably on top for most of this competition.
With a Brit one-two in the standings for the first time ever in the Tour de France, we only have 5 stages left to see if Wiggins can create history for British cycling at this year's Tour de France.
Corley Cycles are giving away a prize a day in our Tour de France. You can win Rotor Chain Catchers, Park Track Pumps and a host of cycling goodies in our competition.
